Turning 22

Dear Reader,

Last week was super busy, but it was also super awesome. It started on Sunday when my roommates and I made a cake for my cousin and his wife. They just bought a house, it was their anniversary on the 26th and they're having a baby next month. So in our opinion, a cake was overdo. And it looked sweet, if I do say so myself (no pun intended):

Then on Wednesday I helped my sister move into her apartment, attended my first ever book club (next month we're reading The Screwtape Letters) and I went to see Alice in Wonderland at the dollar theatre with my London friends. (All after working 12 hours at my internship.)

The next day (the 27th) was my birthday. As much as I love my internship, I wasn't super excited about spending another 12 hours there, especially on my birthday. But I did it. And when I came home I promptly had cake with friends, ice cream with a few more friends, and then went to see the midnight showing of Prince of Persia, with all of the above mentioned people.

But the fun didn't stop there. I got home at roughly 2:30 AM, packed, and took a shuttle at 3:30 up to the airport to fly home to Michigan for Memorial Day weekend. Although I slept on the commute to and from Salt Lake, and then on the plane home, I didn't really sleep (well) until Friday night (36 hours later)...and going that long without sleep is never good for me. My body essentially turned off last night and I passed out after dinner while my family was watching a movie. Party on.

So all in all, it was an amazing 22 birthday, and I am so glad to be home right now!!!

Hello, my name is Annie, and I love 30 Rock

Dear Reader,

So if you haven't figure it out yet, the name of my blog is a quote from the show 30 Rock.

And I love 30 Rock.

Maybe a little too much. Seriously, it has to be one of the best TV shows, possibly of all time.

You may be saying to yourself, "What? This girl is crazy. No show could possibly be that good."

If you don't believe me, then you must watch the last two episodes of this season. They are pure genius! I honestly don't know how they come up with stuff. I am just glad that they do.

Here is part 1: "Emmanuel Goes to Dinosaur Land"

And part 2: "I Do Do"

Enjoy!

Working at the MTC

Dear Reader,

This week has been an interesting one with Elders at the MTC. We've had two exceptionally annoying/rude Elders that make you wonder how they are going to succeed on their mission. Honestly, Elders. Good luck. You need it.

Luckily for our sanity, these two Elders have been offset by tons more super nice missionaries. And some of them are even funny. Here is a joke that one of them told my coworker yesterday:

Why couldn't the Elders eat dinner?

Because Moroni hid the plates.

This joke reminded me of another goodun' that I heard last semester:

What do you get when you throw spaghetti into the ocean?

Apostasy.

Hahaha....I think they're funny.

Please, thoroughly check your sources

Dear Reader,

I've officially finished my first week interning at Deseret Book.

It. Is. Awesome.

I've essentially been source checking all week, which basically means I look up the author's sources and make sure punctuation, spelling, word order, and citation is all consistent with the original work. Sound boring? Nerd alert: I love it. I am so excited to be an editor. Even though I haven't been working with kids books, I've still been having so much fun.

Also, John Bytheway sits in the desk next to me at work. Random.

This is a picture of where I work.

The first post.

Dear Reader,

So here I am. I did it--yet another fad I couldn't let pass by. I mean, everyone and their dogs have blogs these days (And I really do mean that. But who are we kidding? I love dog blogs.) so I felt the need to jump on this bandwagon.

I feel so impressionable. But I hope you enjoy it.
